Ok I need to know what would be better and what would work with my current car. I have been looking at the BOSS 302 Intake for the GT but I have heard it doesn't work well with auto transmissions. I also would like the Cobra Jet Intake but I don;t know if I will have the same problem. My 2011 GT is all stock right now and I'm looking into modding it because I think it time unless there is something I need to be sketchy about on them cause I still have a FULL warranty on it and if there is a known problem with anything I'll camp it out and wait.
So OPPO wanna help me look around for some decent but cheap things to do to the car?

Gears, exhaust, dynotune. Enjoy. You want more than it's time to open your wallet and put some forced induction on it.

Well do you know of any specific parts?

Sweet. I would have to say that the torino and maverick are probably my favorite muscle cars.

Thanks!
Here is one of the more recent pics of it in new shoes.

...why wouldn't the Boss intake not work well on automatic transmissions? If it shifts the powerband (which it will) can't you just switch the shift points via OBD-II? It's not like the gear ratios themselves are bad.

I'd probably mess with bolt-ons first before going for a new intake manifold. The usual intake, headers, exhaust and tune.

That Torino is even better looking in person.

I don;t know where my father got the info but supposedly with the auto it makes it like bog down. I'm gonna call a bad Dyno tune or tune in general.

Got any specifics on some of those? Cause I kinda have some exhaust I'm looking at but idk about the headers unless they are normal length cause I wanna get the BOSS 302 H-Pipe.

Does the Boss 302 have a different camshaft, or just the intake?
The regular mustang peaks at 6500 rpm. The transmission will shift around 7000, right?
The Boss 302 peaks at 7500 rpm. The automatic transmission would shift before reaching peak power if you had the same engine.
Not only that, but if the intake is designed to optimize air flow at 7500 rpm, BUT, you don't change the cam (assuming that the 302 has a different cam) then you might not be gaining any power, since you're improving airflow at an RPM range where the cam doesn't produce power anyway.

I would look in to that more, sounds weird that it's bad with autos. That shouldn't be the case. Honestly first I would get new axlebacks. There's a million options, but my personal favorite is the GT500 exhaust. It makes great sound and isn't way to loud. Plus it's one of the cheapest. Now if you want actual gains, like someone said you might be set with gears and a tune. 3.55 or 3.73 gears plus a tune on an auto would make your car really quick.

Ya I think it might I know FRPP sells the BOSS 302S(or R) heads but they are like 1.3k a pop soooooo and Just looked it up yup different cam.

The Boss and I imagine the CJ manifolds give up some low end but scream in the top end. You just need a tune to compensate for that.
I have no idea why it wouldn't work well with an auto especially since an auto would keep the revs up more.

Sweet.

I agree.

;~; its steering blew up again

Throwing either of those manifolds will void your warranty. If you're interested in keeping that, as others have said, cold air, headers etc. Even a tune is a bit of a grey area.

ever hear of ghost cams for those coyotes? They're pretty gimmicky but cool.

Also those axle backs sound good

well I did a bit of reading and it said you can replace parts with ford parts and they are genuine ford parts so it shouldn't void it.

For exhaust? That depends. How far do you want to go? Full out with headers and everything or cat-back? It's more of a personal choice. Kooks, Stainless Works, American Racing Headers.....they all make good stuff. Gears, Ford Racing, Motive, Yukon gear, Richmond..... I'd go with the Yukons or replacement Ford gears in your ratio of choice from OEM. As far as a tune, put it on an actual dyno and have it done by someone reputable.

It isn't the parts. Its the fact your ECU will need to be tuned. Show up with a tune, and thats a voided warranty.
![]() 07/17/2014 at 19:35 |

I can always show up with a Ford tuner. I mean Ford pretty much says ford parts or no warranty
![]() 07/17/2014 at 22:09 |

I guess. AFAIK Ford doesn't offer a ProCal tune for a GT for that part. Could be wrong though.

I dunno all I know is I figured out what I need to do the engine so it accepts the BOSS intake is get the BOSS cams and then boom done.
